Spoofing Caller ID News
Would I get in trouble for caller ID spoofing, or is it just the company that provides the service?
If I use a caller ID spoofing service, is it me who gets in trouble or is it the company who provides the service that gets in trouble?
I am wondering because I’m pretty sure caller ID spoofing is illegal, even though I found a service that in their FAQs says they are entirely legal….
spoofing is NOT illegal…
it is however illegal if you use it with the intention to misrepresent yourself for the purpose of committing an act of fraud, or to access a system with out authorization where that system uses CID authentication…

Yes. So are the so called prank calls. Unfortunately, there just is no cure for stupid. Ill-informed, undereducated, uneducated and even ignorant can all be cured, but not stupid, the facts keep getting in the way. I have an answering machine on my phone and record any suspect incoming calls (loan scams from other countries bank and ID scams etc.) and then take necessary other legal action. The FCC, FTC, and my state PUCO are almost on a first name basis with me. We have accomplished several indictments, though some of the scams come from countries where we have little power over their criminal actions and can only help educate the public so they don’t get hurt.
Is there any website that does free caller id spoofing anymore?

Maybe the Spoof app is not available for the iPhone 3Gs. You can buy spoof cards though. You just won’t have the application.

I have a cell phone through Alltel, and I have an alltel myaccount. I was just wondering how to change the name that comes up on the Caller ID when I call. Can anybody help me? Points to the most helpful answer! Thanks!
I do not think you are able to change the Caller ID that shows up with you call with Alltel. You could try calling their customer service to find out but I know that you are not able to on your myaccount.

I’ve been spoofing for a long time now. I used to use spoof.com now. Use the app Bluff My call. Well some1 finially got me back. Is there anyway to find out who did it.

Hello. Wondering if anyone knows whether billing or raw call data records would reflect a spoofed call. Here’s an example. Assume my number is 123-456-7777. I subscribe to a spoofing service. I call 555-666-8888 and program it such that the caller id on the 8888 line will think my number is 222-222-3333. Will my raw call data or billing records (i.e., for 123-456-777) reflect the call to 222? Or would there be be any reason to think that the billing/raw call data for 222 would show the call? Thanks.
